Workshop on Empowering Educators to Address Learner Diversity and Promote Inclusion held in Dharamshala

ATWS Dharamshala, June 7, 2025: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), organized a 6-day workshop on Empowering Educators to Address Learner Diversity and Promote Inclusion from 2nd to 7th June, 2025 at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society (ATWS) in Dharamshala. ATWS facilitated the workshop with venue and service facilities.
The workshop was inaugurated by Joint Secretary, Head of DoE Counseling Section, Mr. Jamyang Wangyal la, in the presence of Trainers from Azim Premji University, Ms. Bhuvaneshwari B. and Ms. Aparna Mukherjee, and DoE’s Inclusive Education Officer, Mrs. Tenzin Paldon la.
At the Outset, Mrs. Paldon la provided a comprehensive overview of the workshop, explaining its background and objectives in line with CTA’s Basic Education Policy.
CTA’s Basic Education Policy emphasizes equitable treatment for all learners which closely aligns with the vision of Azim Prem Ji Foundation for a just, equitable, humane, and sustainable society.
During the inauguration ceremony, Joint Secretary Mr. Jamyang Wangyal la emphasized the importance of inclusive education, highlighting the need to dismiss outdated stereotypes about special-needs children. He encouraged participants to promote early identification, diagnosis, and treatment of learning difficulties, while expressing his sincere gratitude for volunteering as members of the Inclusive Education Committees established by the Department to address the rising challenges of learning difficulties in Tibetan schools due to the extreme shortage of special educators in the community.
The workshop aims to equip educators with skills to support special-needs children in inclusive classroom settings, covering topics such as individual differences, developmental differences, inclusive pedagogy, and designing differentiated instructions.
Around twenty one participants attended the workshop.
