Parent Teacher Association North Cluster Meeting convened in Dharamshala

ATWS Dharamshala 28th June, 2025: The Department of Education (DoE), CTA convened a 2 Day Parent Teacher Association North from 27 to 28 June, 2025 at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society, Dharamshala. ATWS facilitated the event with venue and service facilities.

The meeting was inaugurated by Education Kalon (Minister) Mrs. Changra Tharlam Dolma la as the Chief Guest , in the presence of program facilitator Dr. Kelsang Wangdu la from Global Affairs Canada, and a team of Department of Education (DoE) officials led by Additional Secretary Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la, Head of Academic Section, DoE.

The Meeting commenced with a welcome address by Additional Secretary Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la, where he provided an overview of the department’s initiatives since 2015 to strengthen the role of Parent Teacher Associations in enhancing school education.

Following that, Chief Guest Mrs. Changra Tharlam Dolma la, in her keynote address, emphasized the crucial role PTAs can play in bridging the gap between parents and schools, particularly in day schools, to support the holistic development of children amidst the challenges posed by excessive mobile phone and internet use.

The opening ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by DoE official Mrs. Sonam Gangsang la.

Approximately 38 representatives from various Tibetan settlements in northern India participated in the meeting.

Over the two days, they received training on topics such as improving PTA work processes, collaborating with parents and schools to enhance student learning outcomes, positive parenting, and conducting meaningful parent-teacher meetings. Following that, the participants provided feedback, and received instructions on future implementations.
