Enumerators receive Training for CTA Household Listing Survey 2024

Home Department, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) began a 3-day Enumerator’s Training from 17th to 19th Feb 2024 this morning at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society (ATWS), Dharmsala. The objective of the training is to introduce the tools and techniques of CTA’s upcoming Household Listing Survey 2024 to the enumerators. ATWS is facilitating the event with venue services and facilities.
Around 42 participants of enumerators, Settlement Officers, and Staff members from different Tibetan Settlements around Dharmsala in the Himachal Pradesh state are attending this Training. Dr. Akshaya Patro, Team lead, and Mr. Saikat Ghosh from Sambodhi Research and Communications Pvt. Ltd, Noida are training the participants.
The Inaugural Session began with auspicious butter lamp lighting in Thumi Hall by Chief Guest Mr. Jampa Phuntsok la, Home Department Additional Secretary, followed by singing the Tibetan National Anthem and his introductory speech. Given the importance of Household Listing and data as one of the most indispensable tools for an administration to review, revise, and improve the overall status of a community, he implored the participants to learn optimally from the training and conduct the upcoming Household listing Survey in Tibetan Community in one’s best possible capacity, without any compromise in the length of the Survey questionnaires, despite all the challenges that they are likely to face ahead. He said, “Taking this an opportunity to contribute one’s bit to serve the community, uplifted under H.H. The Dalai lama’s visionary leadership and his sole effort till now is what counts towards leading a purposeful life and gaining a good learning experience helps one’s personal growth as well.
Following the introductory remarks by the Additional Secretary, a video message on the objective and significance of the Household Listing Survey by Mr. Palden Dhondup la, Home Department Secretary, was presented. In the video, he said that this modern technology-driven Survey would provide accurate statistics on the Tibetan community and their needs. This actionable data would help locate the desired target populace and formulate many need-based developmental programs in the long run while imploring the entire Tibetan Community members to participate in it for their readiness for every future uncertain situation.
Thereafter, brief self-introductions by the two trainers, the Home departments’ presiding officers, staff, and participants took place. The Inaugural session then concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Tashi Dickey la.
Course content in the coming days include the Introduction and the details of each section under Household listing and Institution questionnaire, Explanation of each section and its flows, Institution tool canvassing using the DE program in CAPI, and mock practice on a tablet or smartphone.
