ATWS Dharamshala, June 17, 2025: A Dialectic Workshop for TGT Tibetans of Sambhota Schools, organized by the Department of Education, CTA, is underway at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society, Dharamshala. ATWS is facilitating the workshop with venue and service facilities.
The workshop, running from June 16th to 26th, 2025, was inaugurated by Sambhota Tibetan School Society Director, Mr. Tsering Dhondup la, as Chief Guest, along with Training Facilitators Geshe Ngawang Tsundue la and Geshe Ngawang Tashi la.
Around thirteen TGT Tibetans of Sambhota Schools are attending the Workshop.
Following ceremonial lamp lighting by the Chief Guest, Geshe Ngawang Tsundue la gave a comprehensive account of significance of the workshop.
At the outset, he emphasized the significance of cultivating a kind motivation, noting that one’s deeds become meaningful and meritorious based on one’s inner motivation. He highlighted the importance of the Science of Valid Cognition, which lays the foundation for all other Tibetan sciences, including art, medicine, inner science, and language, as elaborated in the publications of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Professor Samdhong Rinpoche .
This science, he explained, enables individuals to penetrate deep into subjects and the nature of phenomena through independent investigation and search rather than blindly following the words of others. It enhances learning by applying logic and reasoning, eliminating the need to memorize entire subject matter, and hones listening and speaking skills through debating.
Geshe la urged the teachers to apply their learning from the workshop in their daily classroom teaching, emphasizing the practical significance of the Science of Valid Cognition in one’s daily life. He shared his observation that students well-versed in this science tend to excel in academic subjects.
Following that, the Chief Guest, STSS Director Mr. Tsering Dhondup la, thanked the participants for prioritizing the workshop despite their vacation time and provided an overview of the Dialectic Program, covering its background, objectives, and expected learning outcomes.
Further expressing his gratitude for the Education Department’s efforts in reviving dialectic practices in Tibetan schools under His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s guidance, he urged the teachers to utilize their learning from the workshop to positively impact students’ lives.
This could be achieved by enabling students to develop their cognitive thinking skills, while also keeping in mind the broader vision of His Holiness to share the valuable insights of Tibetan Science of Valid Cognition with the modern world. He emphasized that fulfilling their day-to-day responsibilities with sincerity is, in fact, fulfilling His Holiness’s wishes.
The Inaugural session concluded with a brief introduction of the trainers and the program schedule for the next ten days by DoE Official Mr. Tenzin Yeshi la.
